US petroleum company threatens to freeze its activities in Yemen

Yemeni official sources said an American company, whose name he did not mention, working in the field of petroleum in Yemen threatened to freeze its activities in Yemen if the necessary security protection is not available for its workers and establishments.

Economic sources in Sanaa said that the Yemeni petroleum sector suffers major losses due to continued explosions targeting petroleum pipelines in recent months and repeated pipeline closures by tribesmen.

Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh held this week a meeting to discuss the Yemeni petroleum investment sector, and he gave instructions to take the necessary procedures to settle security in the troubled areas.
