April Understanding committee hold emergency session
The April Understanding Monitoring Committee on Wednesday at dawn concluded its emergency meeting by calling upon all sides concerned to abide by the provisions of the understanding.
During the meeting, Lebanon asserted its commitment to the items of the understanding in spirit and content. The committee recommended working to alleviate tension, abide by the items of the understanding and avoid attacks on citizens.
The US representative to the committee called for honoring all items of the understanding, keeping it as a guideline in dealing with field conditions in south Lebanon, and not endangering civilians.
The US representative also urged both Lebanon and Israel to exert all efforts to ease the tension. The Israeli representative lodged two complaints: the firing of Katyusha missiles and shelling. He ignored the question of Arnoun and the recent operations carried out by the Lebanese resistance.
