Hamas denies coordination with the PKK

Originally published

The official spokesman for the Palestinian Hamas movement in Jordan, Ibrahim Ghousheh, has denied any coordination between his movement and the Kurdistani Workers Party (PKK) in order to carry out operations against Israeli targets and work for the release of Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan, currently held in Turkey.

In statements to the London-based al-Sharq al-Awsat issued on Wednesday, Ghousheh stated that Hamas has no knowledge or news on such a coordination.

Concerning the situation in south Lebanon, Ghousheh said what is taking place is that the Lebanese resistance, fully backed by the people, the army, and the government in Lebanon, is what, "We do exactly lack on the Palestinian arena."

The Hamas official called for full Arab and Islamic support for the Palestinian resistance in order to be able to resist Israeli occupation and break Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's stubbornness.
