Originally published

Chairman of the Israeli Labor Party Ehud Barak has admitted the failure of the Israeli occupation forces in dealing with security conditions in south Lebanon.

In an interview with Israeli Army radio on Tuesday, Barak added that the government of Benjamin Netanyahu had got itself involved in very complex matters, following its failure in dealing with all issues in south Lebanon, especially regarding security, and noting the recent increase in the number of Israelis who have been killed in south Lebanon.

For his part, former Israeli Army Chief of Staff Amnon Shahak also acknowledged the Israeli failure in south Lebanon. He commented, "All Israeli military activities in south Lebanon targeted at eliminating the Lebanese national resistance are doomed to failure."
