Originally published

The Egyptian newspaper El-Ahram will organize in July a festival for Arab cinema in Cairo, in which seven countries will participate: Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Lebanon, Syria and Sudan, in addition to Egypt.

Bodies from the Egyptian Ministry of Culture will participate in organizing the festival.

Mahmud Murad, head of the festival, said the list of the festival allows Arab cinema professionals residing in Europe, Canada and America to participate with their works regardless of the production front or the state that produced the film.

He added that the festival will present monetary prizes for the best long film as well as for the best short film worth 250 Egyptian pounds, in addition to financial prizes presented by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.

Egypt organizes three international cinema festivals, one in Alexandra for the countries of Mediterranean Sea, the Cairo International Cinema Festival and the Cairo Children's Cinema Festival in addition to seven local cinema festivals.
