Syrian PNF hails Lebanese resistance, reviews Middle East developments

Originally published

The Syrian Progressive National Front held a meeting on Monday night in Damascus, chaired by Syrian Vice President Muhammad Zuheir Masharqa where Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa gave a comprehensive political report dealing with issues relating to Arab, regional and international conditions.

The PNF also reviewed new political developments and discussed the intensive diplomatic activities made by Syria recently. It indicated that such activities serve the Arab nation's higher interests.

The PNF underlined the policy exercised by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu in his launch of large-scale military attacks against "our" people in Lebanon, noting Israeli threats to strike the infrastructure in Lebanon with the objective of subjugating it to Israeli schemes in an attempt to separate the Syrian and Lebanese peace tracks, SANA reported.

The Syrian PNF hailed the steadfastness of the people of Lebanon and their determination to resist occupation and liberate the south. It commended the heroism of the Lebanese students in liberating the Lebanese occupied town of Arnoun and indicated that the current stalemate in the Middle East peace process is because of Netanyahu's anti-peace policy in which he disregards international legitimacy, UN Security Council's resolutions, the Madrid terms of reference and the land-for-peace formula.
