A delegation representing the Organization of the African Unity will visit Eritrea today in an attempt to encourage the settling of disputes between Ethiopia and Eritrea.

AFP quoted an African diplomatic source as saying that the mediation committee includes the ambassadors of Burkina Faso, Djibouti and Zimbabwe, as well as a delegation from the department in charge of settling disputes relating to the African organization.

Last Friday the Organization of African Unity mediation committee met with the Ethiopian FM, at a time when the Ethiopian foreign minister announced on Saturday that, "The Organization of African Unity enjoys the best position to help the two countries settle the crisis."

Meanwhile the Eritrean Ministry of Foreign Affairs in statements sent to ArabicNews.com said that "a total of nine Ethiopian (T-55 ) tanks have been destroyed while two were captured on the Mereb-Setit front."
