Originally published

A high-ranking Jordanian security source said on Wednesday that two policemen were killed by prisoners who were being taken by the prison's car from the state security court in Amman to Sawaqqa prison, in southern Jordan.

The source stated that the two policemen who were killed were from the guards of the prison's car. The prisoners attacked the two men on the way at al-Dabaa district and killed them using the policemen's weapons. One prisoner was killed during the escape attempt.

The Jordanian security source said the prisoners were those who carried out al-Rabeyah crime in Amman last year, when eight Iraqis were killed, including the Iraqi charge d'affairs in Amman and two Egyptians.

The Jordanian source added that the prisoners also include those who were responsible for the death of renowned Jordanian lawyer Dr. Hanadeh, his son and another doctor last summer.
