Mubarak confers with Belgian parliament speaker

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Tuesday in Cairo received the speaker of the Belgian Parliament,currently visiting Egypt. The speaker of the Belgian parliament said he discussed with President Mubarak issues of concern to the two countries, foremost being the Middle East peace process, obstacles impeding it, the question of Iraq and the Arab Gulf region.

The Belgian parliament speaker described his visit to Egypt as very important. He indicated that his visit also dealt with the forthcoming visit of the Belgian crown prince to Egypt at the end of this month, leading an economic delegation.

For his part the speaker of the Egyptian Parliament, Ahmed Fathi Serour, said the talks dealt with the Middle East peace process and means of giving it a push forward in the interest of stability in the region.

Serour added that the talks also dealt with bilateral economic relations and means of boosting them.
