Israeli officials failed to meet with President al-Assad
The London-based Middle East daily issued on Friday said that Sara Netanyahu, wife of the Israeli prime minister, did not succeed in her attempt to shake hands with Syrian President Hafez al-Assad who was able to understand her intention and avoided her by getting far from him before she was able to greet him during King Hussein's funeral. The paper added that Israeli President Ezer Weizman tried to change his handshake greeting with Nayef Hawatemah to a meeting with President al-Assad but he failed.
