Bashar al-Assad asserts readiness to take any responsibility given to him

Colonel Bashar al-Assad, son of Syrian President Hafez al-Assad, assured that he is ready to take any responsibility that is authorized to him.

In remarks to al-Kefah al-Arabi newspaper, he said that he is not looking for posts, but if there is an authorization from the leadership of the Baath ruling party to assume a post, then he will be ready.

Statements attributed to Arab diplomatic sources said that Bashar al-Assad will be appointed to a major post in the following referendum, which will reelect President al-Assad.
