A message from Iraq to AL chief

Originally published

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid has asserted that the final statement of the Arab foreign ministers meeting, recently held in Cairo, adopted positive points in favor of Iraq, stressing the AL's desire to maintain Iraq's territorial integrity.

In statements he made on Thursday to reporters in Cairo, Abdul Meguid added that he had received a message from the Iraqi leadership explaining Iraq's viewpoint about the final statement.

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid met yesterday with the undersecretary of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Nabil Negm, who arrived suddenly in Cairo.

The AL chief said he will inform the Arab ministerial committee assigned to follow up activities with the UN Security Council to lift the economic sanctions imposed on Iraq of the two reciprocal messages between him and the Iraqi leadership.

Meanwhile, Iraqi sources told ArabicNews.com that Negm delivered Abdul Meguid a whole dossier regarding the US and British actions in northern and southern Iraq threatening Iraq's security, peace and territorial integrity.
