Syrian PNF discuss Arab conditions
Chaired by Syrian Vice President Muhammad Zuheir Masharqa, the Progressive National Front in Syria held a meeting. Members of the PNF listened to a comprehensive political report read by Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa which dealt with a number of questions raised in the Arab, regional and international arenas.
The PNF members reviewed political developments and discussed at length the Arab state of affairs at present. The PNF found that what is going on in the Arab arena raises strong concern since it weakens the Arab nation's ability to face challenges which are made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's policy "of backtracking on commitments, undertakings and peace requirements."
They condemned the step taken by the Israeli Knesset in issuing laws related to the return of the Golan and Holy Jerusalem. "These laws have no grounds or legal rights. These laws prevent the realization of peace with Syria, which constitutes an essential conditions for the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace," the PNF said.
They stressed that the current Arab situation needs intensive efforts to reach the level of challenges facing them and to enable a counter to be made to all dangers.
The PNF expressed its belief that "clear thinking and placing pan-Arab higher interests over all other considerations is the foundation for the establishment of an Arab region able to put an end to the Arab states' weakness."
