Sharon: Security for negotiations with the Palestinians

Originally published

Israeli Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon has reiterated his government's commitment to what he called the security interests of Israel as a precondition to achieving progress in negotiations with the Palestinians.

During his meeting on Sunday morning with a group of French journalists, Sharon said that Israel is ready to reach a solution with the Palestinians up to the point where it does not endanger Israel's security.

Sharon also stated that Israel is concerned with the stability of conditions in Jordan and for strengthening relations with it, and that he is following up on King Hussein's health condition, Israel Radio reported.
