Israel and the new Jordanian crown prince
The London-based "Jewish Chronicle" daily said on Friday that the new Jordanian Crown Prince Abdullah is not at all known in Israel.
The paper added that the Israeli officials expressed cautious reactions towards the decision taken by King Hussein to appoint his son, Prince Abdullah, as crown prince, replacing his brother, Prince Hassan.
The paper added that all Israel knows about Crown Prince Abdullah is that he is an officer in the Jordanian army who leads a group of special troops. The paper added that Crown Prince Abdullah has contacts with several Israeli Army officers, but he did not accompany his father King Hussein on any of his visits to Israel.
The Jewish Chronicle daily indicated that the Israeli officials hope that Crown Prince Abdullah will adopt his father's policies in bringing what it called "peace and security to the region's peoples."
