Sudanese Ummah Party: Eight of El-Mahdi's followers detained

Official sources in the Sudanese opposition Ummah Party announced that the Sudanese authorities detained eight students and activists who are followers of former Prime Minster Sadiq El-Mahdi, while preventing them from celebrating the anniversary of establishing El-Mahdi's government.

Leaders in the Ummah Party blamed the government for the celebration's failure, and they said they believe that the prevention proved the government's failure to pass the test of its speeches of openness with the reality of the democratic transition.
