Israeli law prevents prime ministers from returning occupied lands

Originally published

The Israeli Knesset (parliament) ratified yesterday a law that makes transferring territories under Israeli law subject to the approval of a majority of Knesset members.

This law will affect the Syrian Golan Heights and it was ratified by a vote of 53 to 30.

The new law calls for convening a referendum of the people in Israel before delivering any areas to a foreign country, especially East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights.
