No changes in agreement on Nile water between Egypt and Sudan

Originally published

Sudanese Minister of Irrigation Sherif Tuhami confirmed that the Nile water sharing agreement signed between Egypt and Sudan in November 1959, is still in effect without any limit on its duration.

He added that it will not be canceled, abolished or exchanged and that it is obligatory for the two countries to receive their shares of water.

Moreover Tuhami said the agreement is still obligatory and that there are no regional developments affecting it, clarifying that it is hard to predict the effect of the dam projects Ethiopia is undertaking on the share of Nile water that Egypt and Sudan will receive.
