Some 1,000 illegal emigrants arrested in the UAE

Originally published

United Arab Emirates police said on Wednesday that the UAE authorities arrested about 1,000 immigrants living illegally in the UAE who entered the country during the holy month of Ramadan.

Coastal police official in Raas al-Khaeimah, Col. Salem al-Abeed said "Those immigrants think that it is easier to enter the UAE during the holy month of Ramadan, seizing the chance of slowness in the authorities' performance."

He explained that most of those emigrants came from Afghanistan and Pakistan in search of work and that many of those who are arrested were expelled from the country.
