Mauritania releases Ahmad Weld Dadah on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr
The Mauritanian authorities on Sunday released the chairman of the opposition Union of Democratic Forces-New Era, Serah Ahmad Ould Daddah, and two officials from his party of the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
The government of Mauritania did not give any statement on the release of the three men, which had been expected by the political circles in Mauritania.
Sources close to Ould Daddah said the three officials returned to their homes in the capital.
The three officials were accused of undermining the country's interests through dumping nuclear waste in the Mauritanian territories. They were arrested on December 16 and put under house arrest in Mauritania's desert for one month.
