Palestine state proclamation might be postponed
The proclamation of the Palestinian State might be delayed to the end of the year, in exchange for increased support by the USA and Europe to the Palestinians' right to self-rule, "AFP" news agency reports quoting Palestinian and diplomatic sources, MAP reported.
According to diplomats, the USA and the European Union have proposed to the Palestinian authority a five-item deal that includes delaying by some months the proclamation of an independent Palestinian state, expected for next May 4.
In exchange, the USA and the EU would proclaim overtly their support to the Palestinians' right to self-rule. In addition, Palestine wants to obtain a halt to Jewish colonization of their territory until the end of negotiations with Israel over the creation of the Palestinian state.
According to the source, the deal under discussion provides that negotiations will start right after the second round of elections in Israel and wind up on December 31 at the latest.
The deal also stipulates the total implementation of last October's Wye accords on Israel's partial withdrawal from the West Bank.
