Electronic mail in Syria this month

Originally published

Under the patronage of the chairman of the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics, a "qualitative turning point will be made in Syria." This new measure is marked by opening electronic mail services to the public.

This is, however, a preliminary step toward opening other Internet services within the few coming months.

The deputy director general of the informatics department at the telecommunications establishment, Muhammad Alloush, said e-mail services will be opened internationally during this month after completing a linking operation with the international circuit. Then subscribers can send and receive information and trade correspondences directly from abroad after dialing no. 190 and a password.
