Israel regrets striking Syrian soldier
Israeli security circles explained that a raid launched by the Israeli warplanes on Sunday against Jenta village adjacent to the Lebanese-Syrian border in the Lebanese Bekaa plain was not targeting Syrian "objectives." It expressed regret if a Syrian soldier was struck in the raid.
In a report about the raid, Israeli radio indicated on Monday that six Lebanese citizens were wounded and among the wounded is a Syrian soldier.
Meanwhile, the Israeli daily Maariv said on Sunday that the Israeli Air Force used three-year old aerial photos in its December 22 raid on Lebanon, which resulted in the death of a woman along with her six children.
Israeli troops claimed the attack resulted from a mistake made by an F-16 jet which fired at a house located 300 m away from the target. The Israeli military refrained from taking any measures against the pilot.
