Report: Two Iraqis seek asylum in Egypt
A young man and his wife asked for political asylum in Egypt after they arrived in Alexandria airport on Saturday in an Egyptian plane which arrived from Amman.
A security source in Egypt told the London-based al-Hayat daily that Jasser al-Dweiji and his wife Nafisa al-Dweiji, a student at the Islamic literature faculty in Baghdad, had two false names and the nationality of a third country and then admitted they are from Iraq and that they were in custody there.
They added that upon being released they thought of fleeing to Egypt out of fears they would be arrested again.
The Egyptian source explained that an investigation was opened into the two, adding that their request to have political asylum will be taken into account.
