Egyptian - European negotiations on potato problem
A delegation comprised of exporters of Egyptian potatoes and governmental agricultural experts left Cairo yesterday for Brussels for negotiations with the European Union Standing Committee on Plant Health over the repeated refusal of the committee to allow Egyptian potatoes into European Union countries, claiming that the potatoes are infected by brown rot disease.
Meanwhile, the delegation is going to present practical solutions to this problem and seek an increase in the amount of Egyptian potatoes allowed to enter Europe from 150,000 thousand tonnes to 450,000 tonnes.
