Special meeting for the GCC states in Riad
Foreign ministers of Gulf Cooperation Council member states held a meeting in Riyadh on Tuesday night to discuss several topics and the latest developments in the Gulf and Arab arenas, foremost being the consequences of the US - British attack against Iraq and the call for convening an Arab summit conference.
Sources at the GCC general secretariat said that the ministerial committee falls in the framework of the desire of the GCC member states to maintain coordination and consultation concerning developments on the Gulf and Arab levels and to adopt united and common stances towards these developments.
The meeting of the GCC foreign ministers came following the postponement of the consultant meeting of the Arab foreign ministers which would have been held today in Cairo but were delayed until Jan 24.
The GCC ministerial meeting is headed by Emirates Foreign Minister Rashid Abdulah Al Nueimi who arrived in Riad earlier in the day with other ministers.
