Originally published

Thousands of people marched through the streets of Mohammmedia (near Casablanca) to express solidarity with Iraq and condemn the US-British air raids, while a group of women organizations, trade unions and political parties held a similar march for women in Casablanca.

For around two hours, the women's march, in which leaders of political parties, trade unions and human rights organizations took part, chanted slogans expressing solidarity with Iraq, condemning the raids and calling for the lifting of the eight-year long embargo enforced against Iraq.

On December 20, some 20,000 persons took part in a march in Rabat to express solidarity with the Iraqi people following the US-British raids against Iraq while several rallies and protest movements were held in other Moroccan cities.

The Moroccan ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation had voiced "great concern" and called for restraint and for giving a chance to international peaceful mediation."
