Privatizing Lebanese television and aviation

Originally published

Lebanese economic sources revealed the desire of Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss' government to offer three sectors for privatization with the framework of a Lebanese plan to get out of three projects managed by the government: official television, Middle East Airlines and Lebanon's casino.

The government is paying half a million dollars monthly to fill the deficit in the salaries of employees working in the television, while the aviation company's losses are expected to be $79 million dollars during the current year after its losses amounted to 95 million dollars last year. The Lebanese casino achieved profits valued at $20 million during the past three years.
