Iran denies involvement in Lockerbie
The Iranian embassy in Bonn has strongly denied allegations made by the Frankfort city Attorney General on the possibility of Iran's involvement in the 1988 explosion of a US passenger jet over Lockerbie, Scotland.
Tehran radio said the embassy released a statement in which it expressed wonder and regret over the publication of such allegations by the German judicial official, a matter which the statement said would affect the friendly relations between Iran and Germany.
The radio, on the other hand, stressed Iran's opposition to all forms of terrorism and to the killing of civilians.
Earlier Frankfort's attorney general claimed in a statement broadcast by television and radio stations in Germany that Iran is involved in the Lockerbie incident.
For its part, France has expressed regret over attempts made to obstruct efforts to find a solution to the Lockerbie incident peacefully between Libya and each of the US and Britain.
This was expressed in a statement by the spokeswoman for the French Foreign Ministry, Gazo Sukrieh, in reply to the American and British threats against Libya.
