Kuwait still has fears of Iraqi government
Kuwaiti Nation's Council (Parliament) member Abdullah al-Neibali has said the fears of Kuwait and the Gulf countries will continue as long as the current Iraqi government exists, especially because it does not "abide itself to moral standards."
In an interview he gave on Monday to the BBC, al-Neibali said that Iraq threatens its neighbors as long as it owns advanced weapons of mass destruction and as it does not change its practices and policies toward its neighboring countries and inside of Iraq, alike.
He denied any Kuwaiti role in the US and British air and rocket attacks, saying the strikes are "purely an American-British decision."
Meanwhile, Map reported that on Monday Kuwait said it does not oppose the holding of an Arab summit but wants transparency in inter-Arab reconciliation.
Kuwait's permanent delegate to the Arab League insisted, following a meeting of delegates of the 22 member countries, that frankness has to prevail before reconciliation.
Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguidy told the press on Monda that he sent to foreign ministers of member countries messages to inform them on Yemen's request to hold an Arab summit to examine the situation in Iraq.
For Yemen's delegate, "Circumstances are appropriate for the holding of an Arab summit."
