Morocco hosts international seminar on road maintenance
An international seminar opened this Friday in Morocco to look into latest road maintenance techniques, funding and management.
The seminar, attended by Moroccan and foreign experts, will also review ways of enhancing the exchange of expertise, data and the launching of joint research projects.
To upgrade its road infrastructure, Morocco is building annually nearly 100 km of highway to reach a targeted 1,000 km of highways by the year 2000.
The Moroccan authorities have also set a national road program providing for the construction of 10,000 km of rural roads within 7 to 9 years.
The $ 73 million program, which was launched in 1995, seeks to construct annually some 1,370 km roads.
