Moroccan Press Union condemns publishing by Moroccan weekly of interview with Netanyahu

Originally published

The Moroccan Press Union denounced on Thursday the publishing by a Moroccan weekly of an interview with Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu.

In a communique made public after a meeting on the media situation in Morocco, the union expressed "indignation" over the publishing of the interview and urged the publishers to review their cooperation ties with the weekly.

The Union termed as "erroneous" the contents carried by the weekly which sought to pave the way for normalization of relations with Morocco and with the rest of the Arab world.

The union urged Moroccan journalists to boycott all activities of the Israeli liaison bureau in Rabat and underlined its resolve to counter any normalization attempt with Israel.

The Moroccan association for the support to the Palestinian struggle also condemned the publishing of the interview which it said harmed the pan-Arab feelings of the Moroccan people.

It called for the opening of an inquiry to shed lights on the weekly's assets and on the side which financed the trip of the two journalists who conducted the interview.

The association invited Moroccan journalists to remain vigilant to counter zionist infiltration and media control attempts.
