The Moroccan national council for youth and the future (CNJA) and the Spanish economic and social council pledged to consolidate cooperation to give a new momentum to rapprochement between the two countries' civil societies.

The two councils which held this December 16-18 a meeting in Madrid on "Enterprise social consultation in the Euro-Mediterranean context" also pledged to upgrade the exchange of experience and to endeavor to promote partnership between Moroccan and spanish economic operators.

Participants underlined the importance of the advisory role of such councils which can play a key part in promoting democracy and consolidating the rule of the law, in fostering rapprochement between the governors and the representatives of all the components of the civil society and in preventing social conflicts.

The meeting that provided opportunity to trade viewpoints and experience in matters of social consultation and dialogue focused on training and employment, working hours, and salary policies.

The Madrid meeting, the second of its kind, gathered representatives of employers' associations, trade unions, and professional associations.

The two councils decided in 1996 in Rabat to institute exchange networks in matters of social consultation and dialogue and to hold periodical meetings alternately in Morocco and Spain to explore new cooperation opportunities and promote partnership.
