Morocco and Gibraltar open direct sea line

A new sea line between Morocco and the Rock of Gibraltar was launched, a Moroccan official source announced Wednesday.

Moroccan minister in charge of the Maghreb, the Arab and Islamic world, Abdeslam Znined, said the new sea line to be operated by a car-ferry called (La Estrella Del Mar) will facilitate the transport of Moroccan workers in the rock during holidays.

The car ferry will make trips twice a week, on Friday and Sunday, so that Moroccan residents in Gibraltar spend the week end home. Initially started for a provisional period of two months, the service will be extended in case of success.

The official regretted the barriers erected by Spanish authorities for Moroccan residents in Gibraltar wishing to travel to Morocco.
