Palestinian government prevents building materials from reaching Jewish settlements
The Palestinian government on Tuesday and for the third time within two weeks prevented building materials from reaching Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip. The materials are to be used in expanding settlements in the Palestinian territories.
Officials who supervise the Palestinian presence at Carne crossing at the eastern entrance of Gaza said they on Tuesday turned back a truck loaded with building materials while on its way to a settlement in Gaza.
For their part, the Israeli settlers closed down the Israeli side of the crossing, which provoked the Palestinians to shut the whole crossing. The Palestinian side stressed that the materials are used to expand Jewish settlements, a matter which violates agreements signed between the two sides.
