Sanaa does not want arbitration with Saudi Arabia
The Kuwaiti daily al-Seyassah quoted Yemeni Foreign Minister Abdul Qader Bajmal as saying that neither Yemen nor Saudi Arabia want to resort to international arbitration to settle their border disputes.
Bajmal added, "Nobody is persistent to reach the arbitration stage as far as there are still doors open for a peaceful and amicable solution. We have not yet reached a deadlocked door."
He stressed that Yemen feels it is part of the entity existing in the Arab peninsula and that it is an important part due to its strategic depth, political importance and security dimensions.
Bajmal denied the existence of any US bases in Yemen. He said: "We have not alone denied these bases, rather the Americans themselves issued a statement in which they said they do not have bases in Yemen and we will not ask Yemen for bases."
He went on, "As for our security and military cooperation with the US, this matter is open."
