The governor of the Syrian province of Qunietra, Dr. Walidel Bouz on Monday received a US delegation from the World Affairs Councils of America led by Jerry Leech.

The governor briefed the delegation visiting Qunietra on the "deliberate brutal destruction made against the city and its 244 villages or farms by the Israeli occupation forces before their withdrawal from the liberated city."

El-Bouz stressed Syria's desire to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region according to international legitimacy resolutions.

Leech expressed deep thanks to the governor over the facts he gave about the history of the Golan. He asserted that he and members of the delegation will convey this information to their society in the USA.

The delegation toured various parts of the liberated city and were acquainted with its destruction by the occupation troops. They expressed regret over the "unprecedented brutality in destroying the city."

In the visitors' book Leech said: "Our visit to the liberated city of Quneitra had left in us a deep impression of pain and sadness. We would not have thought of such destruction and devastation, we see everywhere in the city. We hope to have peace and security established in the region and not to see such harming scenes which are completely inhuman."
