Ten persons killed in confrontation between warring factions in Somalia

At least ten persons were killed and another 15 wounded following confrontations that erupted between rival militias at the Somali port of Mersa on Sunday.

Eyewitnesses were quoted on Monday as saying that the fighting erupted among rival militias from Haber Gheider tribe, which controls certain areas in Mersa, 100 km to south of Makadishu. The confrontation closed down the markets in the city all Sunday. The eyewitnesses did not state the reason behind the clashes.
