US health secretary calls for Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon

US Secretary of Health and Human Services Donna Shalala has asserted the need to implement UN resolution 425, which provides for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from south Lebanon, in the framework of a just and comprehensive solution in the region. She also expressed hope that peace will be established in south Lebanon. Shalala stated during her Sunday tour of the city of Baalbeck that the US administration is interested in the future of Lebanon, adding, "The US commitments towards Lebanon will be strong." She described security conditions in Lebanon as good.
