AL economic council approves executive program
During its 68th session held in Cairo on Sunday, the Arab League council for economic unity approved an executive program for resuming the application of the regulations of the mini Arab common market.
The regulations are part of the treaty for Arab economic unity, which involves Syria, Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Iraq, Jordan and Mauritania. Implementation of the regulations will start as of the beginning of the year 2000 and provide for canceling all customs fees and other relevant taxes among the seven member states of the Arab mini market.
The council also called for expanding trade dealings with Iraq and for lifting the embargoes imposed on both Iraq and Libya.
