On the Syrian PA elections
The French daily La Tribune and the BBC correspondent in Damascus highlighted the current legislative elections for the People's Assembly's 7th session in Syria, which started Monday morning.
Monte Carlo radio said that La Tribune noted in an article published on Monday that the great number of businessmen who nominated themselves for the elections is an indication of "economic openness" in Syria, made at the directives of the Syrian president himself. The paper expected that the number of People's Assembly members who will win among these businessmen will reach one third of the new parliament members.
The BBC correspondent in Damascus said in her report that the Syrian citizens are looking forward to new achievements to be made by the new parliament on all economic, social, developments issues, to raising living conditions per capita drawing new legislation, canceling certain taxes and carrying out the first and most important task by the PA in ensuring control over the performance of the executive authority in the state's ministries and its relevant institutions as well as to fight administrative and financial corruption which have been recently prevailing in Syria.
