Egyptian intellectuals, artists stress boycott of Israel

Originally published

Egyptian intellectuals and artists have called for boycotting cultural and artistic festivals and festivities in which Israel takes part.

Israeli Army Radio said that officials responsible for one of artistic festivals currently being held in Cairo refused Israel's participation, especially after they found out that the Israeli delegation wants to screen films shot and produced in Israel which they considered to be immoral.

One Israeli artist said that officials for culture and art in Israel asked the Israeli delegation, which had intended to take part in the Cairo Internatinal Film Festival, to screen nude films and other films speaking of homosexuals in Israel.

Press sources in Cairo stressed that Israel drowns the Egyptian markets with films addressed against Egyptian youths in Egyptian schools and universities.
