Iraqi opposition to present Saddam Hussien before international court
The representative of the higher council of the Islamic revolution in Iraq, Hamid al-Bayati, stated in an interview with the BBC that presenting the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein before an international court was one of the issues debated in the meeting of the opposition Iraqi organizations on Monday in London along with British officials.
Al-Bayati added that toppling Saddam Hussein should be done through "field works" by the Iraqi people and the opposition in collaboration with the Iraqi Army.
He added that, "Certain and specific proposals were submitted by the Iraqi opposition during their Monday meeting" with British Foreign Office Minister Derek Fatchett. He added that among these proposals was "interest in human rights in Iraq."
Al-Bayati added that the assassination attempt against Iraqi Vice President Izzat Ibrahim in Karbala might be the result of "internal conflict inside the ruling regime or inside the army or by a person from Karbala."
