Palestine calls for Arab League support in Jerusalem talks
The Palestinian authorities called on the Arab League to launch an Arab, Islamic and international campaign aimed at supporting the Palestinian position ahead of final-status talks concerning the holy city of Jerusalem.
"We have asked the Arab League to provide us with the necessary support on the Arab and international levels as we start the final-status talks," Faysal al-Husseini, the Palestinian official in charge of Jerusalem, told reporters after talks with Arab League Secretary-General Esmat Abdul Meguid.
"This is possible through contacts with the European Union, the Vatican, the Christians around the world, the U.S. and international public opinion," he added, affirming that the talks with Abdul Meguid covered the status of Jerusalem and the ongoing efforts to preserve its Islamic characteristics and counter Israeli Judaization attempts.
