Annan to visit Algeria next week

United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan is heading to Algeria next week to resume his endeavors aimed at finding a solution for the dispute over sovereignty in the Western Sahara region.

The Algerian Foreign Ministry said that Annan, who cut short his tour in the area this month due to the crisis between the international weapons inspectors and Iraq, will hold talks with Algerian officials and with representatives of the Polisario front, which is in a dispute with Morocco over the sovereignty of the Western Sahara.
