Five sentenced to death in absentia in Algeria

The criminal court in the Algeria's Tizi Ouzou province on Monday sentenced five persons to death in absentia under charges of joining the Armed Islamic Group and deliberate killing. The Algerian daily al-Khabar said that security forces arrested seven gunmen from the Armed Islamic Group in Sidi Bel Abbes province and another gunman in Tizi Ouzou province.
