European cinema festival will be held in Beirut and Tripoli

A European cinema festival, including showings of Euro-Med co-productions, will be held in Beirut and Tripoli on December 3-15.

The event is organized by the European Commission's delegation in Lebanon and in cooperation with the European Union's embassies and cultural institutes. The festival will present a selection of 22 films, including Euro-Mediterranean coproductions and 10 Lebanese short films.

During the festival, a round table will discuss "Instruments for promoting Euro-Mediterranean cinema." The delegation's cultural activities for 1998 also included four musical performances, on November 5-8 by the EU Chamber Orchestra at Notre-Dame Monastery, in Balamond, and in a secondary school in Saida.
