The U.S ambassador to Morocco said his country is aware that it has all interest to see the political, economic and social reforms ushered in Morocco crowned with success.

From the American viewpoint, "we are aware to have all interest that the political, economic and social reforms launched by King Hassan II and Prime Minister Abderrahmane Youssoufi, be crowned with success," Edward Gabriel said in a lecture in Agadir, southern Morocco.

For the U.S diplomat, this process of democratic and economic reforms is "promising and important for North Africa, Europe and America on the eve of the 21st century."

Touching on the future of relations between Morocco and the USA, Gabriel said he aspires to setting up "a new reinforced bilateral partnership to progress our joint commitment seeking three strategic objectives: democracy, prosperity and stability."

The diplomat, who recalled the solid historical links between the two countries --which date back to the 18th century-, surveyed the evolution of these links since he took up his mission in Rabat nine months ago.

He added that bilateral relations need to be consolidated in the fields of commercial exchanges and investments, social and economic development, democracy and human rights, professional and educational exchanges, military cooperation and coordination in matters of foreign policy.
