Youssoufi made the statement during a meeting in Rabat on Thursday with Iranian minister of culture and Islamic orientation, Ataallah Mahajrani, who extended him an invitation on the part of the Iranian vice-president to visit Tehran.

During the meeting that reviewed economic and trade relations between the two countries, the Iranian official underlined the role played by Morocco and Iran at the level of the islamic world. He said Iran is currently adopting a strategy aimed at promoting its relations with the Islamic world and preserving its territorial integrity.

He also voiced admiration for the enthusiasm of the inhabitants of the Moroccan southern provinces, who gathered in the streets of Laayoune to express their attachment to Morocco's territorial integrity during the visit of the U.N secretary general to the city last Sunday.

The Iranian official is visiting Morocco to take part in the second conference of Islamic culture ministers held in Rabat november 12-14.
