Moroccan health workers postpone strike

Originally published

Moroccan public health workers, nurses and physicians decided on Monday to postpone the one-day strike they were planning to stage this Nov.11 to protest the authorities' indifference to their grievances.

The decision was made by the Public health unionists after a meeting on the government's new proposals. The unionists deemed the new offers somewhat satisfactory compared with former proposals.

Last year, the Moroccan health personnel observed a series of strikes to claim the improvement of their financial situation and work conditions.

The Moroccan health minister, Abdelouahed El Fassi, had earlier said the strike is unjustified as the government is making its best to improve the social sector within the limit of available financial resources.
